Accessibility

We try to make the tall ships as accessible as possible for people with all disabilities. Each wristband allows for a Carer to go free.

If you have a specific disability that you require any help with, please get in touch at: info@marketinggloucester.co.uk

Please see below for a brief guide on the information we have regarding your needs.

Entrance to the Tall Ships

It might be advisable to pre-collect your wrist bands from the Gloucester Tourist Information Centre. These are available to collect now.

While there is queue-jump for prepaid tickets, this should help make your entry into the event much easier.

Quieter Times

10am – 11am and 4pm – 6pm (all days)

These times are advised for anybody who might struggle with the hustle and bustle of the busy day.

It is also going to be very loud during the Pirate Shows and Canons, which are due to be set off 2.30pm -3pm.

There are plenty of Pubs, Bars and Restaurants with great accessibility on the waterside to escape too during this time. Visit Christian Drewitt’s Accessibility Guide to find out detailed accessibility information of individual businesses.

Quieter Entrances

  • North Warehouse entrance
  • Tall Ships Pub entrance

Toilets

There are x4 toilet locations around the Tall Ships event, these all have accessible disabled toilets. There are also disabled toilets located in the Gloucester Quays Outlet Shopping Centre.

Wheelyboat Rides for the disabled

This is a fantastic attraction for all wheelchair users who want to experience a boat ride on the day. This is a fully electric boat that can carry up to three wheelchairs and two crew members. There is a ramp on the front of the boat which winds down onto the slipway for wheelchair access.

This attraction is located at the Barge Arm, number 25 on the map.

Hints and Tips

Lock bridge – There is a lock located by the HMS Historic Boats. This lock is accessible however; it might be a squeeze for anyone in a large wheelchair or during busy times.

Please be aware that the quieter times are 10am to 11am and 4pm to 6pm.
