Servicemen and women have been given the chance to gain free entry to the Gloucester Tall Ships and Adventure Festival.

We have teamed up with Tickets For Troops to offer 20 pairs of passes to the festival which takes place between Saturday May 25 and Monday May 27.

The first 10 pairs of tickets have already been snapped up with a further 10 sets of passes available on  the Ticket For Troops site from today.

You must be a registered member of Ticket For Troops to apply for tickets and you can sign up by visiting

Tickets For Troops was set up in 2009 for service personnel and those medically discharged from the Armed Forces since 2001. It provides free tickets to sports, music, theatre, entertainment and cultural events for the troops as a small recognition of their service to the country.

William Campbell-Lamerton Director of Operations at Tickets For Troops said: “I would like to thank Gloucester Tall Ships and Adventure Festival for their generous donation of tickets.

“With 2019 marking the 10-year anniversary of Tickets For Troops, it is great to see festivals like Gloucester Tall Ships and Adventure are still supporting the charity.”

This year’s event is shaping up to be the biggest and best yet with three days of amazing activities for land lubbers and sea farers alike.

Glorious tall ships such as the Grayhound, TS Royalist and the Matthew will grace the waterfront as swashbuckling pirate shows and living history re-enactments bring a slice of life on the open waves to the city.

As well as a celebration of maritime heritage, this year’s festival will be brought bang up to date with superhero-style Gravity Jet Suit displays, the Industry Pro Wakeboarders, BMX displays and much more.

For the first time, there is even the chance to have a go on an incredible 1,000-ft-long zip wire across Gloucester Docks.

All this, plus amazing live music, circus skills performances and great food and drink on offer.

Jason Smith, Chief Executive of festival organisers Marketing Gloucester, said: “We are lucky to feature members of the Armed Forces as part of this year’s festival including a fantastic performance by the Royal Marines Band Service on the Monday and so it felt only right to give something back by offering the free passes to Ticket For Troops.

“The first set of tickets were so popular that we decided to give another set of 10 to the charity and we hope the recipients will have a fantastic time at the festival in just a few weeks’ time.”

Tickets for the festival are £10 with accompanying under-12s getting in free. The pass is valid for all three days and includes access to any participating ships.

GL Card holders can also receive 20% off the price of tickets for the event and they can purchase their tickets using the GL Card App or at one of the card’s voucher points.
